PostHeaderIcon Another wonderful trip to a Greek island

Most years my family and I take a week or two’s vacation in Greece. We never head to the mainland, instead opting for one of the many islands scattered around the Mediterranean and Aegean seas. Last year we had been to Rhodes, which was beautiful. Like all of the islands, there seemed to be some areas of the island that were run down, but the large majority of the place was beautiful with literally hundreds of beautiful unspoilt beaches. This year we wanted to try somewhere similar, but we wanted to keep up our habit of going to a different Greek island each year. This time I decided to search for a holiday to Zante.

I had always heard people talking about Zante, whenever we were on holiday on any of the other islands, as being one of the most beautiful islands if you find the right areas. I had also seen the amazing photographs that littered the internet of smugglers cove. The most idyllic looking setting I had ever seen. It is a perfect looking beach with cliffs on both sides and there is a ship wreck to explore if you like snorkelling. I had always wanted to go to this beach and now that we were finally going to go to Zante I was determined to track it down.

Our week in Zante ended up being one of the most memorable holidays we will ever go on. We might just break our golden rule and head back there next year!

PostHeaderIcon Hotel and Villa Holidays in Lanzarote

The Canary Islands have long been synonomous with cheap and cheerful year round holidays. But these seven Spanish islands offer much more than just good value accommodation and sunshine for twelve months of the year. As smaller islands such as Lanzarote are home to a host of cultural attractions and natural beauty spots. Whilst also offering high standards of accommodation.

Lanzarote´s current topography was created by a huge set of eruptions in the 1730´s – which left much of the interior of the island looking like a set from a science fiction film. Today the volcanoes of the Timanfaya National Park are the islands hottest attraction – and are also often used as a backdrop by filmmakers and photographers.

As a result of boasting this unique terrain Lanzarote was declared a UNESCO protected biosphere in 1994 and is subject to strict planning regulations. Which are designed to counter the sort of development sprawl that has eaten up large swathes of other islands such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

As a result Lanzarote retains a surprisingly unspoiled feel – there are no high rise buildings for example. And the three main holiday resorts of Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise remain well contained on the south east coast.

The bulk of the best value hotels In Lanzarote are located in the islands fastest growing resort of Playa Blanca. Where four and five star establishments line the coast – all enjoying great views across to the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura. The best known hotel in the resort is the Gran Melia Volcan – which is located next to the Rubicon Marina. Whilst there´s also a wide selection of luxurious Lanzarote villas available for rent too – with prices starting from as little as €400 per week.

Puerto del Carmen is the largest resort – and home to a handful of very popular hotels in the shape of the Los Fariones and the San Antonio. Both of which enjoy great beachfront locations at either end of the main coastal strip, the Avenida de las Playas. Which runs parallel with the main beach in the resort Playa Grande.

Costa Teguise in the north of the island is also home to a good selection of Lanzarote accommodation. Boasting apartment complexes, private villas and a range of four and five star hotels. Such as the Gran Melia Salinas – the first major construction in the resort during the 1970´s.

PostHeaderIcon Stag Weekends in the UK

The craze in the past decade has been to head over to Europe for a stag weekend as the cost of flying fell and the awareness of previously unknown European destinations increased.

However, stag weekends UK is still a proposal worth considering , especially if you are attempting to manage a large stag group with varying needs and budgets. It is, after all, much easier to get a large group of lads to one city in the UK than it is to get them on the same flight to a far-flung destination.

European stag weekends appealed to many due to their offering of unique stag activities, but there are many alternative events on offer for stag groups without a passport being required.

Try blind driving on a stag weekend in Bournemouth or coasteering on a stag weekend in Newquay for some genuine originality. You can also stag clear of the carbon copy city centres and enjoy fun evenings in local pubs and bars – it just needs a little invention and creativity.

Stag weekends abroad can be a very expensive way to try something new, but you could save your money and enjoy a raft of intriguing activities in the United Kingdom as you send the groom off to married life in style.
